カモミールとネロリのモイストポプリ。癒やしのレシピも

Hello everyone.

In early May, we harvested a large quantity of flowers along with the season of fresh chamomile. We lovingly preserve the harvested flowers by drying them for chamomile tea or using them in moist potpourri.

And the "moist potpourri" I prepared in early May has reached its peak flavor after about a month of aging!

Lately, my ultimate moment of bliss has become gently opening its lid in my room and savoring its aroma with blissful delight. Let me introduce you to its world!

What is "Moist Potpourri," a treasure trove of ancient wisdom?

By the way, do you know what "Moist Potpourri" is?

This is a non-drying (moist) potpourri made with salt, devised as a "wise part of everyday life" in ancient times when essential oil extraction and preservation techniques were still scarce, to enjoy the scent of plants on hand for as long as possible.

The mechanism is very simple.
Salt tightly absorbs moisture from plants, trapping their fragrance within without allowing it to evaporate. This is precisely why you can enjoy the fresh, natural scents of flowers and herbs for an astonishingly long time.

I also blended "rock salt" with spices (cinnamon, allspice, star anise) for my own recipe. I then prepared them in the following four patterns with essential oils, depending on my mood.

  1. Neroli
  2. Frankincense x Lavender
  3. Clary Sage × Ylang Ylang × Benzoin
  4. Neroli × Petitgrain × Bergamot

While all of them are fascinating combinations, this time I opened the moist potpourri blended with neroli essential oil.

This has been perfected into an exquisite potpourri, so much so that I sigh with pleasure every time I open it! I've gently added pressed pansies, picked in the spring, and arranged them beautifully to decorate my room.

Harmony of "Stars and Chakras" brought by Chamomile x Neroli

Chamomile, with its simple and gentle "moon" energy, gently harmonizes your foundation (2nd chakra) and self-expression (5th chakra). Neroli, with the showy "Venus and Sun" light, then opens the heart (4th chakra) and the connection to higher dimensions (7th chakra).

This combination goes beyond mere relaxation, andA world of blissful fragrances that gently fill you from within, healing your soul to its deepest parts.will be completed.

The balance of the scent is exquisite!

When chamomile is dried, it can develop a slight astringency or heaviness, similar to "tea." When neroli's fresh citrus floral notes are added to this, the fragrance gains transparency and lightness.

Furthermore, this time, we used "orris root" as a fixative. Orris root is excellent at anchoring expensive and delicate floral scents like neroli. Orris root anchors neroli's "ethereal, light floral notes" with its "deep, grounded aroma," which is then gently embraced by chamomile.

A perfect harmony (marriage) has been born.

How to Make Chamomile Moist Potpourri

This year's chamomile season has passed, but it's surprisingly easy to make as long as you have the ingredients. Please make a note of it for next year's enjoyment.

Materials

Coarse salt(A rough guideline is to fill the bottle to about 70% capacity)

Semi-dry chamomile

Spice(Cinnamon, allspice, star anise)

Oris RoutePreservative

Neroli essential oil(1-2 drops)

Neroli has a very strong fragrance, so the trick is to use it sparingly so as not to overpower the chamomile scent.

How to make

1. Dry chamomile to a "semi-dry" state.
Dry the freshly picked flowers in a well-ventilated, shaded spot for half a day to a full day.
The petals should be slightly wilted and not feel moist to the touch.
Don't dry it completely to a crisp. This is the key to fully infusing the salt with the aroma!

2. Scent the salt (this is the key!)
Drip essential oil onto the orris root you prepared and let it soak in. Then, put coarse salt in a bowl, add the orris root infused with fragrance to the coarse salt, and mix well with a spoon or other utensil. By preparing "scented salt" in advance, the chamomile scent and essential oil will blend more deeply.

3. Create layers in the bottle
In a clean jar that has been boiled and thoroughly dried, layer the following ingredients in this order:

Salt at the bottom (approx. 1 cm)Chamomile flowers (enough to cover the salt)Chamomile flower……
Finally, finish by covering it with plenty of salt.

4. Slowly age in a cool, dark place. Close the lid tightly and store in a cool place away from direct sunlight.

Care: For the first week, gently shake the bottle once a day to settle the salt and flower moisture.
Period: It will be completed in about 2 weeks to 1 month!

In conclusion

What's wonderful about moist potpourri is that the process itself is surprisingly simple: "just dry the flowers and layer them with salt."

And for a month after preparing it, while shaking the jar as if nurturing a rice bran pickle bed, saying "become delicious,"The exciting anticipation of waiting for aging to happen. And waiting for it, you'll experience something you can never get from artificial fragrances,The ultimate fragrance, imbued with the vital energy of nature.is waiting.
